Yoga can be present in your everyday life not only through the practice of asanas but also through the implementation of such elements as the right attitude, breathing, meditation, mindfulness. YTTI Rishikesh advises what we can do to keep in touch with our yoga practise when we can’t stand on the mat.
One of my students came to the session after a long break from yoga – she was busy with work and travel at that time. At the beginning of our classes, she regretted her long break in practice, but when our joint practice came to an end, she came to me and said: “You know, I realized that even if I wasn’t on the mat for a while, I still felt yoga in my body all this time. ”
I thought about it, what can we do to keep in touch with our yoga practice. Here are 10 simple ways you can use when you can’t stand on the mat:
We Recommend: Yoga Retreat in Rishikesh
1. Feel the ground under your feet
Every position you take in yoga begins with your basics. As you stand, ground yourself and position yourself so that you can really feel your feet. When you move all day, try to move with the right attention and intention.
2. Slow down and breathe deeply
Living anxiety and stress increases blood pressure, heart rate and disrupts the natural breathing rhythm. Instead, during the day try to stop and take a few deep breaths to catch with you and your body again contact.
3. Keep your eyes soft and focused throughout the day
The desirable look of everyone who practices yoga should be soft and focused – known as ” Drishti .” In addition to the mat, you can use this practice of focusing gaze. Remember that where you direct your attention, your energy goes, so look consciously and be aware.
4. Take at least a few minutes to meditate
Try to spend up to five minutes a day meditating. Use the mantra, make a wish and connect to your dreams. You don’t have five minutes? Take at least a few deep breaths.
5. Follow your own path, not someone else’s.
We are bombarded with so much information, propositions and visions of life every day that we can doubt our own plans and our chosen life path. Therefore, try to hear yourself – what is important to you, what you want to realize in your life and do not question it, just act!
6. Be authentic in touch with anyone you come across
Be real and authentic when dealing with others. This applies to conversations with friends, family, business relationships, or even content you post on social media. It is a real challenge, but being consistent with what you think, feel and convey will allow you to maintain life balance.
7. Note your emotions and feelings instead of pretending they don’t exist
If during yoga practice you are in touch with your feelings and emotions – you notice their existence, allow yourself to experience them, and ultimately accept them and forgive yourself, treat yourself outside the mat in a similar way. You will free yourself from the heavy burden and give yourself the space needed for real life.
8. Practice forgiveness by letting go first
Forgiving others begins with forgiving yourself. Let go of resentment, resentment, jealousy and anger. And as soon as you feel these feelings begin to arise in you, connect with your heart to neutralize them as soon as possible and free yourself from them. Do it for your own physical and mental health.
9. Remember to take a break when you need it
The current, even crazy pace of life is not conducive to slowing down when we actually need it. We are constantly busy and we often treat our “busy” as a reason to be proud! But remember about yourself, feel the moment when you need a break, sleep, a moment of relaxation and regeneration. Give yourself (qualitatively good) time for yourself. You will find that your work efficiency will increase, your stress level will decrease and your relations with the environment will improve.
10. Appreciate yourself
Your yoga practice is also a way to celebrate yourself, your uniqueness and your authenticity. Take some time each day to appreciate your gifts and talents that you have to offer to the world. At the end of each day, remember what you have done. And when you wake up in the morning, say hello to the day. And reward yourself for a job well done, you deserve it!
